Shine Studio

Personal Style that Reflects You

About Shine Studio

Kerin, the owner of Shine Studio, has been in the business for over 30 years. She specializes in haircuts, color, and men’s and women’s face and body waxing, especially eyebrow emergencies (and believe me, there is such a thing).

After graduating from Mt. Hood Community College for hair design in 1990, and working as an esthetician at Vic Wolfe’s Salon, Kerin opened At the Salon in 1990. Today she works closer to home, at Shine Studio in Hillsdale.

Kerin uses The Goldwell color lines and KMS, Goldwell, AG, and Rusk for styling and retail. About her hairstyling philosophy, Kerin says,

“I believe good hair should not only reflect your personal style, it should reflect your lifestyle as well. I enjoy taking the time to get to know my clients’ needs. Good hair should be everyday, not just when you’re walking out of the salon. I also believe that when you feel good about how you look, that kind of confidence can change your life for the better.”

Kerin is a native Oregonian, growing up in Tigard where her parents still live. She lives in Southwest Portland with her husband Michael and their two cats. Kerin has been involved in traditional Japanese Karate for over thirty years. She’s taught a “women’s only” traditional Karate and self-defense class since 1999, allowing women and girls from the Muslim community an opportunity to train in a traditional martial art.
